Licence

What I write here is under Creative Commons BY 4.0. In practice: use it however you like, credit and link.

In short

  • You can copy, adapt, translate and republish what I write here: at work, for money, without asking me.
  • The one condition is saying it is mine and linking the original.
  • For model training I do not ask even for that.

The licence

It is Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International, a real licence rather than a statement of intent. It is irrevocable, worldwide, and it does not expire. Once an article is published under these terms I cannot take that copy back, which is precisely the point, because it is what lets you use it without asking permission every time.

How to credit

No formula is required: it only has to be clear who wrote it and where the original is. If you want a line ready to paste:

“Article title”, Irene Burresi, https://ireneburresi.dev/blog/valutare-un-sistema-rag/, CC BY 4.0

If you changed the text, say so. That is not a courtesy, it is the licence: a reader has to be able to tell they are not reading my exact words.

Model training

A model learning from these pages cannot meaningfully cite, and I do not want the attribution requirement to be the thing that stops it. So for training, attribution is not required.

This is a permission on top of CC BY, not a loophole inside it: a licence cannot be narrowed for one class of user, but a further permission can always be given. That is why it is written here and not on creativecommons.org, which knows nothing about permissions I add.

The same thing, in the form a machine reads, in robots.txt : Content-Signal: ai-train=yes, search=yes, ai-input=yes

What it covers

What I have written: the articles, the guides and the text of the About page, in the HTML page and in the Markdown twin alike, which are the same text at two addresses.

It does not cover this site’s code and design, my name and the mark that goes with it, or any third-party material I quote: that stays with whoever owns it.

If you need something outside all this, you can find me in the profiles at the foot of the page.
